Creator Audio Tips
Last Updated: June 2026
Good video audio is one of the most important parts of online content. Viewers may forgive an average camera angle, but they often leave quickly if the audio is too quiet, distorted, harsh, or difficult to understand.
Test on Real Devices
Always test your final MP4 on the devices your audience uses. Phone speakers, earbuds, laptop speakers, Bluetooth speakers, TVs, and car systems can all reveal different problems.
Do Not Chase Loudness Alone
Louder is not always better. Audio that is too loud can clip, distort, pump, or become tiring. The goal is strong, clean, consistent playback.
Record Clean Audio First
LUFS optimization works best when the source audio is already clean. Try to record close to the microphone, reduce background noise, avoid clipping, and keep voice levels steady.
Understand Platform Differences
YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and podcast platforms may treat audio differently. Use platform-specific guides when choosing a target.
Watch for Clipping
Clipping creates harsh distortion. If a file is already clipped before processing, making it louder can make the problem more obvious.
Use LUFS as a Guide
LUFS helps measure perceived loudness. It is useful because it focuses on what listeners hear, not just the highest peak in the file.
